Create an Instagrammable Small Balcony in 5 Easy Steps
Hello! Do you have a tiny balcony and need some inspiration to turn it into a cozy, Instagram-worthy corner? Hey, I've been there, too! When I moved into my apartment, my balcony was nothing but a slab of plain concrete that I didn't even give a second thought. But after a little ingenuity - suddenly it not just became the spot in which to have a coffee and read latest gossip about Kylie Jenner while I did those things but also a great place for photos anyway. It's right up there with places like nearby Venice Beach or Disneyland castle if I'm honest (well... maybe not quite half as nice) but still pretty fab place for few quick snaps before contacting everyone including your god for help plastering them all over social media with captions like #soogoodamazing lolzZ. I'd say check them out before posting--they'll rock the dismount. Instagram-friendly balcony is just steps away. Are you ready to give this guy an upgrade? Here are 5 simple steps that will make both stylish and functional, totally photo-perfect results. 1. Have a Plan for Your Balcony Floor First things first: Cover up the dull flooring of your balcony space. The key to transforming any area is to start from the bottom. You have some choices here, and they don't need to be too taxing financially either. Outdoor Rug: A cute, weather-resistant rug will at once make your space feel more homely. I bought mine online for under $30 and it has made all the difference. Tile deck: If you want a more polished look, snap-together tiles are super easy to install and look great. Fake grass: Fancy something from nature to grace the balcony floor? Artificial turf can give your balcony that lush garden feel without needing any maintenance at all. I went with small tiles plus a rug, and my little oasis became completely different. It really does look much more delightful now with just this one change. 2. Add Comfortable Seating Next up: seats. Even a small balcony can always find room for a place to sit comfortably and simply kick back. Fold-up chairs; these are perfect for tiny balconies because you can fold them away when they're not needed. Comfy benchm: Next to the entire space, if you have a little room left over you may wish to go for a bench with storage underneath.
Third party content: floor cushions, like this item for example, are a product of the present day life style. It's effortless.
I found a cute bistro set at a thrift store. It's got these little round tables and fold-up chairs, just great for grabbing a bite on the balcony. Add a couple of throw pillows, and boom-instant charm.
Green Smoothie
There isn’t an outdoor space out there (small or large) that can’t be improved with plants. They bring life, colour, and that feeling of being out in the open space you long to see on Instagram; if this is your aim for your outside world – don't worry about not being a native plant expert!
Hanging planters are a great way to add a touch of greenery without taking any floor space. I have a few hanging planters filled with trailing ivy and they look so chic.
I have the perfect place to put my potted plants. I have provided you with a whole entourage of potted plants and hanging pot plant holders. Think slightly different sizes, and don't forget the bigger plant: a fiddle leaf fig if you can fit it in.
Herb garden is a favorite with many cooks. For starters, why not have some of your own grown cilantro and basil? For those who find it all too easy to neglect herbs-its not.
I have hanging planters and pots arranged on a little plant stand. I even put some fairy lights on the stand, and trust me when I say that is pure magic at night.
Light the Fire
Lighting is the key to making your balcony look fantastic at any time of day. It's also that thing which separates your pictures from ordinary to out of this world.
Stringlights: A classic, and quite rightly so. Sling them around the railings or use them over your sitting areas.
Lanterns: If you like that cozy, attractive look then a few lanterns with LED candles in them will give just the right sort of atmosphere. Solar lights: If there's no outside power source, solar-powered lights are OK to use in the absence of standard power.
I was crazy about string lights and put them on my balcony. In addition to being as simple to install as possible, these garden bulbs give off a beautiful warm glow that will last all evening (thank goodness). And a bonus point is, they take some incredible photos!
Add Personal Touches to the Decoration
Then it's time to add some character. Get some decorations that reflect your personality and blend everything in together
Throw pillows and blankets: These not only provide more comfort when you're sitting, but also add color and texture to the room.
Wall art: If your balcony has walls, hang some weather-resistant art or a cute macrame piece.
Little tables: A small side table for your coffee or book is both practical and stylish.
To our bistro set, I added a colorful throw blanket and some patterned pillows, as well as a small tray for drinks and snacks. I also hung a piece of wooden wall art that says "Relax" because, you know, that's why I am out there like this is time.
Wrapping Everything Up
And there you have it! With these five simple steps, you can transform your little postage-stamp balcony into a comfortable, Instagrammable haven. Start from the ground up, add comfortable seating, green it with plants, illuminate the area for after-dark ambience, and add personal touches to make it truly yours.
So what are you waiting for? Go get some deck tiles, string lights, and a few cute plants, and turn your balcony into an oasis. I'm asking you. Well, if you do, take a picture for me I'd like to see your handiwork. Happy decorating!
